ABSTRACT

The research was conducted in the estuary Kahayan and Katingan river, Central Kalimantan. The research aims was to evaluate the content of Pb, Hg and Cd in sediment and Polychaete, Bioaccumulation and Contents correlation of heavy metals in the Polychaete to sediments. Sampling of sediment and Polychaete were using Petersen grab. Polychaete samples were using filter scoop net porous 100 μm and Polychaete were take manually. Analysis of Hg, Cd and Pb were using Atomic Absorption Spectrometer (AAS). The results showed that sediment and Polychaete in stations 1 and 2 in the estuary Kahayan and Katingan containing Pb, Hg and Cd. The content of Pb, Hg and Cd in sediment was higher than Polychaete. Bioaccumulation of Pb, Hg and Cd in the Polychaete less than 1 times metals in sediments. The content of Pb, Hg and Cd in the Polychaete sediment at each station varies. Correlation of heavy metals in the sediments to Polychaete positive and significant, while the relatively low contribution.

Keywords: contents, correlation, polychaete, mercury (Hg), cadmium (Cd), lead (Pb), estuary.
