ABSTRACT


Mud crab Scylla serrata can be found almost in all Indonesian water especially in mangrove ecosystem ranging from river mouth, coastal water, to open sea depends on their life stages. The research has been done within 7 months from April to Oktober 2012 in Belawan mangrove ecosystem North Sumatera. This research aims to determine the distribution of mangrove crabs by size class associated with the availability of natural feed. natural food availability characteristics based on macrozoobenthos abundance at each station were analyzed using Principal Component Analysis Habitat characteristic of mud crab in each station as analyzed using Principal Component Analysis. Distribution of mangrove crabs associated with natural food availability were analyzed using correspondence analysis. Research results show that mangrove crab males and small females are found at the station with the availability of natural feed macrozoobenthos genus Thais, Pila, Barbatia, Perisretnia and Telescopium; Large female crabs at the station with natural feed genus Cerithidea, Atrina, Nereis, Terebralia, Certhium, Nerita, Pinna and Pleuroploca; Male and female crabs medium-sized, large-sized male crabs, are found at stations that have natural food availability genus. Littorina, Pinna and Pleuroploca.
