ABSTRACT

The research was conducted at the Seafarming Development Center Lampung, in purposed to determine the optimum temperature and salinity on the embryogenesis and early stage of larval development (D0-D7) tiger grouper Ephinephelus fuscoguttatus. Factorial completely randomized design (CRD 3x3-factorial) was used in this research. Treatment consists of two factors, namely (i) temperature, and (II) salinity. The first factor consists of three levels, namely temperature (a) 27 oC, (b) 30 oC, (c) 33 oC. Factor II consists of three factors, namely the level of salinity (d) 28 ‰, (e) 30 ‰, (f) 32 ‰. The results was showed that the temperature and salinity significantly different (P £ 0.05) on the embryogenesis and early stage larval development of tiger grouper (E. fuscoguttatus). Optimum conditions for the development of the tiger grouper embryo were 27oC temperature and salinity of 30-32 ‰. While the optimum temperature and salinity for larval development (D0-D7) was 30oC temperature and salinity of 30-32 ‰.

Keywords: Tiger Grouper (Epinephelus fuscoguttatus); embryogenesis; development; larvae; temperature; salinity.
