PENGARUH PENAMBAHAN KALSIUM PADA MEDIA BUDIDAYA TERHADAP BEBAN OSMOTIK DAN KAITANNYA DENGAN PERTUMBUHAN KIJING TAIWAN (Anodonta woodiana LEA)

ABSTRACT

A research to know the effect of calcium suplementation in culture medium on osmatic gradient and its relation to growth of Taiwanese Clam was carried out in laboratory. Twenty clams (4-5 cm and 1-15 grams in size) were reared in plastic container of 100x50x50 cm in size, contain 250 liters of freshwater. The level of calcium supplementation applied in this experiment were 0 ppm, 25 ppm, 50 ppm and 75 ppm and each treatment had three replications. Result of the experiment show that calcium suplementation of 25 ppm on clam culture medium (17,63 CaCO3 in medium) gave the lowest level of gradient osmatic (0,013 m Osm/kg H2O) and the best growth (1,10 % per day).
