PERFORMA PERTUMBUHAN DAN REPRODUKSI RAJUNGAN (Portunus pelagicus) DI PERAIRAN PANTAI KABUPATEN BREBES

ABSTRACT

The research on growth and reproduction performance of blue swimming crab (Portunus pelagicus) was conducted from April 2008 through March 2009 in Brebes district waters with survey method. The objective of the research was to get information about characteristic of growth and reproduction of blue swimming crab (Portunus pelagicus) as base of sustainable fisheries management. Samples was collected by capture gear was called garok. The result showed that ranges of crab carapace length were 2.1 cm to 7.5 cm and weight range were 6.53 g to 253.24 g. This condition demonstrated there was variation of old structure on crab population and which was caught from same cohort. The Growth was expressed by Length-width, corelation of length-weight crab was come and Condition coefficient. Corelation of length-width male crab described in regression equation CW = 1.8479 CL + 1.1787. While, its corelation length-weight was W = 0.5374 CL3.0398. Corelation of length-width on female crab described as W = 1.7993 CL + 1.5042. Length-Weight relationship described as W = 0.7239 CL2.8593 (CL=Length, CW=Width, W=Weight). Sex ratio demonstrated that number of female crab more than male along a year. The average condition coefficient was 58.583 and 6.060 for all crab. Ovarian stage dominated by stage I and II. It is indicated that the research area is nursery ground of the crab. Size at first maturity for male and female are 6.3 cm and 4.8 cm respectively.
